CNC machined Pattern
Machined in two surfaces to accommodate draft and release, this complex shape came to life at Symmetrix Composite Tooling. Goetz Custom Composites completed the FRP step before installation on the roof of the Staten Island Children’s Museum.
The wind-scoop skylight, comprised of a rotating cowl and a colorful, translucent rotating drum, uses stack-effect air circulation to passively ventilate the building below. The drum extends down into the museum, providing an animated display that indicates wind direction.
